SHOWCASE

Welcome to my showcase! Here you will find a wide variety of my best and favorite projects I have worked on during my master's degree. I have used most of these projects in my everyday teaching or they have influenced how I teach. Currently, each project is organized by the class when it was assigned. I hope you find these websites, papers, and technology tips helpful in educating your students!

Project | Technology Tool Evaluation

Within my Tech Tool Evaluation I was able to look at math tools specific to the grade I was teaching and that could potentially be applicable to my classroom. This process showed me many tools that were okay, but a few stood out as front runners and were used in my 7th grade math class. Here is a website with a showing of Middle School Pre-Algebra Tech tools.

Websites

Project | Assessment Best Work

In this assignment, I explain why my infographic, (visual representations explaining information) is some of my best work. The infographic depicts the different types of electronic formative assessments in mathematics through mobile apps and digital portfolios. The infographic itself has a lot of useful websites I have used. The website, Piktochart.com, has been great to use for current class syllabi and my students enjoy creating "posters" on it in class.

Papers

Project | Course Management System

For this project, I created a Course Management System, CMS, for my 7th grade mathematics class and a unit on probability. The CMS, through Schoology,  is set up for students to be part of a blended learning environment where they do some work solely online and other work in class collaborating with group members.

Technology

Project | Inquiry at School: Kindergarten                  to Retirement

In this essay, I learned the importance of inquiry in schools. Vivian Paley is a great example of an educator that loves her students and lets their ideas drive her instruction. I also learned and discussed the importance of self reflection and being your own teacher researcher.

Project | Increasing Student Engagement

For this project, I had to take a "normal" lesson and create additions and adaptations to the lesson that would make it more engaging for students. In this essay, you can see a more descript picture of how I took an ordinary lesson and added some useful technology into the mix for students to use their own data for their math lesson.

Project | Cool Stuff 3 - Flipped Classroom

For Cool Stuff 3, I took a unit plan and created a flipped classroom unit around it. My students watched videos of me prepping them for the next day's lesson and then were able to spend more time doing high cognatively demanding tasks during class rather than going over homework. This article was based on the research during this flipped classroom model.

Project | Literacy Learner Analysis Project

Since teaching literacy is not my forte it is safe to say that throughout this project I learned a lot about how students learn literacy as well as how important relating material to the student truly is no matter the subject being taught. I also show in this project the importance of differentiated literacy lesson plans.

Project | Multicultural Education                                Professional Developemnt

This project was the most eye opening to me. It amazes me how I get caught in my own little world sometimes and need to be retaught the importance of multicultural edcuation and its benefits for student success. This project is a whole day professional development plan where attendees will learn about incorporating multicutural education into their everyday teaching.
