Future Learning Goals: Action Plan​

 

As busy as life seems to be these days, it is hard to take a step back in order to look at the goals ahead. It is crucial to have goals set, especially as an educator, in order to not become stagnant. While I sit here and reflect on how far I have come in my first 3.5 years of teaching, I wonder what the future has in store. In my fourth year of teaching, I changed jobs and moved back to my hometown and I am now teaching at my alma mater. This was a change that if you would have told me about 5 years ago I would have laughed at you! Be the Change: A Synthesis Essay 

Some may think that it is a cliche quote, but I truly believe that Mahatma Gandhi’s quote “Be the change you wish to see in the world” is relevant to my life as a teacher. I grew up knowing that I wanted to be a teacher based on the awesome teachers I had encountered throughout my K-12 schooling. When I attended Michigan State University for my Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics, this feeling was still prevalent. I knew that I wanted to teach mathematics to students because it is a subject few students like and I wanted to change that.
