Mrs. Moore's Classroom

Below you will find links to my three class websites. Here are the different class codes to join to become "students" in my classroom.

Welcome to "my classroom"! I currently teach high school math at a small rural district. I have three Consumer Math classes filled with juniors and seniors, one Geometry class with freshmen and sophomores, and one section of Algebra I with all freshmen. This variety of subjects and grade levels gives me energy and allows me to be creative in my lesson plans.

The Layout

Within my classroom, desks are in pods, or groups of four students. We do projects individually, in pairs, and groups of four. As shown above, each desk is labeled with a number and a color. The numbers help for random calling of students and the colors are nice to easily break the classroom into four groups quickly. The different colors also have different roles within the group giving them ownership of their work.

Student Work

While most work my students complete is online, when we do projects on paper, I like to display them on my back wall. You can see that there is a section for Algebra I, Consumer Math, and Geometry. The Consumer Math projects posted are of students' Venn Diagrams comparing the spending habits of Men vs. Women. The students appreciate a wall to showcase their special work!

Projects

Above: Algebra I students working on an experiment on exponential growth and decay with M&Ms. Students started with two M&Ms and the number of "M"s facing up after each trial run was how many they added back in. This was a much loved experiment since students were of course able to eat their M&Ms after showing both growth and decay!

Below: Geometry students participating in Hour of Code. This project was something outside of my comfort zone as a teacher, but was received well by students. Many students had not coded before and were very intrigued by how fun it was and all of the possibilities. I am hoping to find someone to start some sort of coding club for those who are interested.
